A boy scout, lawyer, and priest were flying out to a remote camp in Alaska when the pilot climbed out of the cockpit and announced that the plane was going down and unfortunately there were only three parachutes. Assuring them that he would get help. The pilot grabbed a parachute and bailed out. Desperate the lawyer grabbed the one closest to him pushing the others away. Pausing only to assure them that he would help them sue the pilot and air line, he bailed out. The priest turned to the boy scout and stiffened his lip, “since I have lived longer you take the last one.” The boy scout took of his hat and placed it on his heart and replied , “We still have two parachutes sir, the lawyer took my knapsack.”
Unfortunately we often live life like we are on a plane with not enough parachutes. As though God will only give us enough for our needs. We fear that if we help others there won’t be enough for our needs. But the truth is as children of promise by faith, God gives us the blessing of Abraham. God’s intent is to bless others through us that they too would come to trust him and receive the blessing of Abraham.
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
It takes faith to give. I want say a big thanks to all of you who have stepped out in faith to bless our nation’s children of prisoners. May God continue to bless you all.
