Brief info

Maddy grew up with 2 older sisters and 1 younger sister. Born and raised in Illinois, just 20 minutes away from St. Louis, she was homeschooled from 1st grade through the end of high school.  She began getting involved with church around age 8 and started attending church regularly at age 11 with her mom and younger sister through an invite of a close friend. At church, she was able to get involved with AWANA, a program centered around teaching kids how to grow in their faith through studying scripture. Growing up in a primarily non-Christian family meant that she was going to have to seek God daily without constant reminders from her parents. However, through the AWANA program, Maddy was able to develop a deeper understanding of God and gave her life to Christ at 12. Since then, she has developed a love and passion for studying scripture.

From the age of 12, she has had the privilege of serving throughout her church’s children ministry, which ignited in her a love for ministry and serving. By the time she was 15, she began feeling called to ministry. Completely unsure of what that would look like, she put full faith in God to show her in His timing.

She discovered Camp David 2020 through a Facebook post about the need for more counselors. After having all her summer mission trips and camps canceled just hours before finding that post, she felt almost immediately that God was telling her to go to Camp David. She thought, “Ok God, I’ll listen and go for 1 week. If it’s really not for me, I don’t have to go back.” Long story short, she came back to 2 more weeks that same summer.

Since summer 2020, she has served as a Counselor 7 times, helped with various retreats and Nights of Camp, and filled the leadership position Counselor Coach for Summer 2022.  As an intern in 2022-2023, she helped out in the mentoring department which included connecting with campers and coordinating the monthly Nights of Camp.  Now as the full-time Mentoring Coordinator she will be in charge of the mentoring department as well as Counselor Coach each summer.
